Aliina Peterson, Middle School Social Worker

Hello. My name is Aliina Peterson, LICSW. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Concordia College- Moorhead and my Master of Social Work from Minnesota State University- Mankato. I'm entering my 11th year as the school social worker at New Prague Middle School. I feel very passionate about my job and enjoy the opportunities I have to build and maintain relationships with students, families and outside agencies.

As a member of the educational team, my role as the School Social Worker is to promote and support students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success. I work with students in both general education and special education to help identify and eliminate barriers to educational achievement. Some of the specialized services I provide on both a prevention and intervention level include individual and group skill based services, information and referrals, assistance with behavioral provisions and interventions, and support for the mental and emotional health of students.

My role also allows me to assist with attendance and truancy procedures and implement any specific school support plans as necessary. As a School Social Worker I collaborate and consult with community resources, professionals and agencies to meet both students’ and families’ needs.

As an advocate for your child, please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns. I am here to be a support and resource for your student and family. Whenever the need arises, please call me at 952-758-1428 or email me at [email protected]. You are welcome to learn more about our social work and counseling department through our department website as well.
